Last Trip of the Summer

I am very sad that summer (and my 6 months off) is coming to an end. The girls start daycare/preschool on Monday and I will be working in my classroom and getting ready for another year to start. We took a trip to the beach for one last trip of the summer. It has been a great one!

5 months old!!!!

I feel like I was just writing Emory's 4 month blog post! This month, Emory started rolling from front to back and back to front. She rolls and rolls and rolls... She also is very close to getting the hang of crawling. Right now, she is doing the Army crawl. She probably learned that from her Uncle James. Ella didn't crawl until 7 months, I think Em gets where she is going because she is looking for Ella. She can get anywhere she wants..... Once again, this kid wants what she wants when she wants it! She also cut her first tooth!
I'm going back to work in August. It's been nice being off since February. I'm going to miss being with my girls everyday.

Baby Food

Since Emory is now eating solids, I decided to make her baby food myself.I decided paying for baby food in a jar is ridiculous and started thinking about how much money I could save, plus it's better for her. I went to the store and bought bananas, sweet potatoes, carrots, and squash. I spent around $5.75 for my produce! I steamed the vegetables in our steamer and pureed them in the blender. You can also use a potato masher but I used the blender. She eats about $2.00 a day in jarred baby food and I made enough to last roughly 2 1/2 weeks. Next time I will do more at a time, but since this was my first time, I didn't want to overdo it!

Leave them in the freezer. Each night I will pull whatever I plan on feeding her the next day out and putting in the fridge to thaw!

So far she has enjoyed what I have made. I plan on getting experimental next time and making some concoctions for her.

Sweet Sisters

Even though Ella is having her moments...see last blog entry, she is still the sweetest big sister. She has never been ugly to Emory, and yes, I know those times will come. Last week I was cutting Emory's nails and cut one too short and her finger bled some. Ella was so upset with me. Emory wasn't crying or anything but Ella was quick to let me know that I really messed up. When we found out that we were having another girl, I was so excited that Ella was going to have a sister. James, Sam, and I are as close as can be now, but I remember growing up James would buddy up with Sam and they would turn on me.... :) we could fuss and fight with each other but no one dare mess with one of us without the other two quickly coming to the rescue! I always would wish I had a sister so I could have a partner in crime. I have a feeling these two will be the best of friends. Ella will tell you that Emory is her best friend. They melt my heart!

Terrible Three's

I've always heard three's are worse than two's... Two has been a breeze for us... Ella turns three in less than a month and I'm understanding more and more about the "The Terrible Three's."
